The plant itself grows to about 3 feet, but the flower stalk can exceed 6 feet in height. Flowers are large, round globes of small, yellow to greenish flowers. While the majestic architectural flower heads are striking, the tiny flowers are not particularly showy, but that is not the point. Considered one of the major medicinal plants by ancient scholars, it is still well known and used in much of Europe, both for the medicinal uses and for its fragrance and flavor.
