Purple Orach is used as an alternative to spinach, as Orach has a less bitter and more savory flavor when cooked or eaten fresh. As these burgundy-colored leafy plants reach 4-6 inches tall with smooth 2-inch leaves, it makes a prolific ornamental addition.
