Cucumber - Chicago Pickling
55 - 60 days to maturity. Cucumis sativus.
Introduced in 1888 by D.M. Ferry of Detroit, Michigan, this heirloom variety is a home gardener’s favorite for pickles of all sizes, thanks to its thin, brine-absorbing skin. Bumpier and stockier than slicing cucumbers, it’s also great for fresh eating. The vigorous plants resist cucumber mosaic virus and scab but are vulnerable to downy mildew.
