Squash, Winter - Guatemalan Blue
90 - 110 days to maturity. Cucurbita maxima.
This variety was grown by South American Indians for over 1,000 years before Columbus. Guatemalan Blue is a gorgeous winter squash. The 15 inches by 5 inches in diameter fruit are hard and smooth, with a slate-gray shell. Its flesh is sweet and fibreless, terrific for baking. Guatemalan Blue also freezes well, providing you with delicious treats even after the season.
